About the Project

The Tana Kotawaringin Project is a long-term forest restoration initiative located in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia in the heart of Borneo.

The project is designed to protect, restore, and sustainably manage tropical forest landscapes while generating high-integrity carbon credits. Our approach integrates climate action, community partnership, and biodiversity conservation into one long-term, science-based solution.

  • Tana Kotawaringin Project is a next-generation forest restoration and carbon integrity initiative located in the central lands of East Kotawaringin, Middle of Kalimantan. Built on decades of community relationships and guided by rigorous scientific and environmental standards, our mission is to protect and restore one of Indonesia’s most important ecosystems.

  • We manage 118,605 hectares of mixed forest landscapes using globally recognized methodologies including Avoided Planned Deforestation, Improved Forest Management, and long-term restoration programs. Our work aims to secure real, measurable climate benefits while uplifting the local communities who have lived here for generations.

  • We are not passive landholders. We are active stewards working side-by-side with local partners, building sustainable livelihoods, and ensuring that every climate impact is matched with community impact.
Our roots are here. Our responsibility is here.

“The name Tana is derived from the Dayak language, meaning land, reflecting the deep cultural connection between the forest, the land, and the indigenous Dayak communities who have long stewarded this landscape”

“Field Team Successfully Completes Social Baseline and Initial Engagement Across 34 Villages.”

We are pleased to announce that our field team has successfully completed the social baseline assessment and initial engagement across all 34 villages within the project area. This achievement follows a focused and coordinated effort carried out over the past month.

This phase marks an important step in understanding the social context and establishing early communication with local communities. The process was conducted with careful attention to building trust and ensuring respectful engagement.

In line with our commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards, we are not disclosing village-specific information at this stage. We have also ensured that anonymity is maintained, as previously communicated to all participating communities.

We extend our appreciation to all parties involved for their cooperation and support. Further updates will be shared as the project progresses.
